Burnaholeinmypocket cruises to victory in Swan Hill

Evergreen seven year old gelding Burnaholeinmypocket cruised to victory in the fast class event – the Braemar Air Conditioning Pace for C6 or better class over 2240 metres at Swan Hill trots last Tuesday. A son of Bettors Delight and Kelly Maguire trained by Andy Gath at Long Forest and driven by wife Kate, Burnaholeinmypocket speared away from gate five to lead whereas his main danger Bad Billy was taken back to the rear from gate four. Travelling under a tight rein throughout, Burnaholeinmypocket left his rivals standing approaching the home turn to win unextended by 13.1 metres over Bad Billy (four wide home turn) returning a mile rate of 1-58.7. Mildura pacer Somedan was third six metres back after trailing the winner. It was Burnaholeinmypocket’s 21st success at start number 62, taking his stake earnings to almost $250,000.

Elmore trainer Keith Cotchin and Burrumbeet based reinsman Ryan Duffy stole the show at Swan Hill on Tuesday when a pair of seven year olds chalked up a stable double – Mister Big–Cantstopthemusic gelding Hezthebigbopper taking the DNR Logistics Pace for C1 or better class over 1750m metres and Julius Ceasar-Kamwood Toy gelding Kamwood Caesar the 2240 metre Laser Electrical Kerang Pace for C2 class. Hezthebigbopper taking a concession began like a rocket from gate four to lead throughout, accounting for Our Amazing Grace (one/one last lap) by 3.8 metres in 1-54.5, with Rocknroll Eyes a half neck away in third place after trailing the winner. Kamwood Caesar was given an easy time three back in the running line from gate four as Satans Outlaw (gate five) first uo since October last year opened up a commanding lead. Going forward three wide solo in the final circuit, Kamwood Caesar had too much on his rivals, scoring by two metres over Artistic Saint which raced in the open for the majority of the trip, Pyramid Hill pacer Nuggetpan was two metres away in third place after being under pressure in the last lap following a one/one trip. The mile rate 1-59.2.

Merbein trainer/driver Luke Watson snared the Laser Electrical Swan Hill Pace for C0 & C1 class over 1750 metres with Stonebridge Star. Restrained from gate four to settle last along the markers as polemarker Shesabeegee safely retained the inside running, Watson was able to extricate Stonebridge Star three wide to follow Clem McArdle into the final bend. Running home strongly on straightening, Stonebridge Star a 5Y0 Stonebridge Regal-Be All Dillinger gelding scored by 1.7 metres in 1-59.2 from the Ruth Arthur (Barham) trained Village Art along the sprint lane after trailing the pacemaker which held down third 3.5 metres back.

Burrumbeet’s Michael Stanley is no stranger to Swan Hill meetings and landed the 2240 metre C0 class Toshiba Air Conditioning Pace with smart 4Y0 Shadow Play-Alta Calypso gelding Thomas Burns, leading all of the way from gate two, scoring by 1.4 metres from Another Sparky which faced the breeze for the last lap, with Will And Andy (three back the markers) third 7.5 metres away. The mile rate 2-02.4.

Kiwi import Rupert Of Lincoln, a gelded son of Sir Lincoln and Crush sent punters home on a happy note after winning the Solaheat 3Y0 Pace over 1750 metres for Great Western’s Kerryn Manning. Despite racing uncovered from gate four outside Mick Stanley’s Vicstar Sharazzz drawn inside him, Rupert Of Lincoln was too strong at the finish to record a 2.7 metre margin in 1-56.6. Prosecco Boy was third 4.8 metres back after following the winner throughout.
